How I wish I could be in the pool with them, to take refuge from the blistering hot day.

The Esplanade is always a great site for a picturesque setting. Taken during last night’s YOG opening ceremony, the Marina Bay Sands building in the background adds to the electrifying atmosphere.

Ramadan Day 3

I used to live just next door to Hajjah Fatimah Mosque during my childhood. Technically, it’s supposed to be the first mosque that I stepped in during my youth since its just a stone’s throw away but that honour goes to Masjid Sultan, my so-called home ground mosque. Anyway, I really missed staying at Beach Road, the soothing sound of the azan during subuh that can be heard in the vicinity had such a calming effect on me, especially after a fitful night :)

Ramadan Day 2

Always a must for breaking fast, just the smell of frying vadai that fills the bazaar makes this indian snack such a delight to eat. Best eaten hot when its still crunchy on the outside but during the fasting month not possible unless you have it at night or tak posa, hehe.

Kick starting my “ambitious” project of a photo a day in the month of Ramadan to rediscover my love of photography which I must admit, have taken a back seat during these few months. Ok, let’s get the project started!

Ramadan Day 1
We always have the schedule pinned up on the fridge. Sort of a countdown ticker for us. Notice the rest of the snapshots on the fridge, too many photos to stick, the rest are relegated to the bottom fridge.

My heart is yours.
It’s you that I hold on to.
That’s what I’ll do…..

lessons learnt while kite-flying last weekend (to be taken literally, or otherwise):

1. investing in a good string and spool makes a difference in the kite-flying experience.
2. expect false starts in the beginning – not all kites soar immediately, depending on its shape, size, material, the wind, your skillfulness, and luck.
3. there are a lot of kites up there and everyone’s competing for air space, but therein lies the challenge; solitary kite-flying’s just not as fun.
4. once your kite is up, let go of the string – slowly, or it’ll reel off uncontrollably; tug it or reel it back in occasionally so it’ll stay on course.
5. guide and navigate your kite with care, especially when you see it dip to the ground or about to get tangled up with wayward kites.
6. the easiest solution when strings become entangled in a confusing mess is to burn the knots and shorten the string; but untangle them patiently and you get to keep your strings intact.
7. let go as much of the string as you can, but keep the end tied tightly to your spool.

and most importantly,

8. never leave your spool unattended in a very young child’s hand – your kite is, more often than not, likely to fly away. far, far away. lol.

Auni & mummy

and that was what happened to our kite. i’d let her hold the spool, with the string at the end of its tethers, thinking it an exercise in trust and confidence for the little tyke, but unfortunately, the poor kite fell to its untimely demise upon a construction site some unreachable distance away from the field where we were at. oh well,

9. sometimes, kites fly away. you gotta just let go and move on.

10. we are SO not getting another kite.

coz the little boys, for whose benefit we went kite-flying in the first place, were more distracted by the open field of opportunities to run wild with their imagination and creativity (and causing general mayhem in the process). well, at least that’s free.

auni and grandpa waiting for iftar pink balloon meet clifford, the big red dog lepak trolley jalan-jalan di bazaar

pandan city mraz bros selling drinks pop pop gearbox soup pandan city medan selera ikan pari bbq

we traveled up johor bahru to check out the night scene on a sunday evening with my dad and brothers. since we half expected the woodland causeway to be jam pack, we decided to go by tuas instead. luckily, traffic was a breeze there. wanted to go jusco but tesco attracted us with kenny rogers. the place was so-so, perhaps more suitable to the local clientele. got my ayamas and ramly fix in tesco before heading to the main destination.

pandan city is located just south of jusco, the place is a hive of activity, kindda like the geylang bazaar but at least 4 times bigger. tried out the famed “gearbox tulang soup” which aniq loved and got a nice ramly burger special with cheese for myself. the rest bought sate, ikan pari bbq and roti john. didn’t really explore much as monday is a working day. it was rather chop chop but aniq and auni seems to enjoy the journey especially little auni who finally bonded well with her grandpa :)

first of all, i apologise to the hundreds of girls (and guys?) who submitted their photos to the Studiofrost team in the hopes of getting a free makeover.

but, alamak, i got it, along with esah esah ‘bypassed’ the process (she does have an impressive modelling résumé after all), and i… well, just tagged along for the ride. so kelong, right? LOL.

in any case, it was all good because we got to let them test us out like guinea pigs on your behalf, you know. it was hard work, okaaay.

Studioperfect

and the end result?

check out our virgin bride vs sexy milf looks… :D

click for bigger view

sexy milf was smokin’ hawt, even the virgin bride was tempted to go over to the dark side and pounce on her. thank god i was fasting. ha ha!

kudos to diah and nurul, for their vision and teamwork. am truly proud of friends who are talented, who take risks, who do what they are passionate about. and you can clearly tell that they really love what they’re doing, and they are absolutely blessed with people who believe in them. (and i’m saying this with all honesty, like i do with most things on this blog.)

so do support our young entrepreneurs, and if you want to have a crazy fun time with the StudioFrost team, askstudiofrost@gmail.com now!

who knows, you might even get to meet this adorable chick (who is ever-ready with her hand-on-hip pose – seriously!).

you know what she said when she saw esah posing? “sexy yah!” and you know who she pointed at when we asked her to choose between her aunty aan/nurul or esah? yup, “sexy yah!” won. lol.

"sexy yah!"

its always nice to send aniq to school. we will have our father and son conversation. he seems more obedient and attentive when there’s only one of us with him. but if both of us are around, he starts his cheeky and naughty mode.

its a small victory when he gets to school without the cengengness associated with most schoolgoing child. :)
