i was inspired by discovery travel channel’s man vs food, dagwood sandwich that i really had to recreate the sandwich.
for those uninitiated, a dagwood sandwich is named after dagwood bumstead of the comic strip, blondie who loves to make huge sandwiches.
so on a rainy afternoon, i traveled all the way to tampines mart to get stuff for my sandwich. i got 5 different types of meat cut for my sandwich, foccacia bread (my favourite!) and the usual greens. took a while to get my foccacia bread, had to travel to another part of tampines for the bread, apparently its sold out at certain places! ok, on with the program.
first we cut the bread and spread the greans plus sauces

put all your meats in between, yummy!

wanted to go all out and stack the meats as high as possible but i couldn’t possibly finish the whole sandwich! anyway, 5 meats plus cheese is a good start. btw, the meats that i used were roast beef, pastrami, chicken ham, turkey ham, and meatloaf.
for clearer and juicier pictures of my attempt, check out my flickr.

hey bro, what sauce(s) did you use? wah so tempted to make one !
hey fairuz, i just used mayo, honey mustard and normal mild mustard as the sauce. you can add chili sauce or ketchup too. its really up to your liking :)
where did u get the meat? do they come cooked?
meatlover, you can easily can them from the halal section of ntuc, giant or cold storage supermarket. i use mostly cold cuts, no need to cook, unless you choose the turkey strips which taste good fried :)
thanks.
any specific brands you use or are they freshly sliced like one of those deli meats at the non-halal section?
hi meatlover, no specific brand, asalkan halal, go out and check it out!
thanks! will do just that!
Zad, should use dijonnaise mustard….combine two in one.
Woah, just like Subway! izadd, try make your own LJ/McD wrap. Saiful has been making his own sandwich (with the meat like the above) and chicken wrap, using chicken fingers from Ayamas. The tortilla wrap can be found at NTUC. Nice… :)
