ever thankful for being bestowed a pair of these. (yes, despite their – and MY – many grouchy moments.)

CHEEKY OR WHAAAAT?! (yes, the girl’s back to her usual pleasant ways, except if you try to snatch anything she’s holding on to, then YOU DIE.)

ok, and so many pics of auni and me, must be fair to this fella. (plus, mummy dah penat-penat pakai make-up, mesti letak gambar jugak.)

So we got an explanation for the crankiness. Little A’s got Roseola aka false measles.

“Roseola is a common viral infection in children. It is also known as erythema subitum. Roseola is not a major health problem. It goes away on its own without treatment.

Roseola is caused by a viral infection. It is spread by droplets in the air when someone who is infected sneezes or coughs. It most often affects children ages 6 months to 2 years.

Symptoms progress in stages. The stages are:

Stage one: 3-4 days of high fever (102-104°F). Your child is likely to feel cranky and uncomfortable during the fever.

Stage two: A rash that appears on the torso after the fever goes away. The rash is red and can be raised or flat, and may sometimes spread to the face or limbs. The rash is not painful. It tends to wax and wane (get better and worse) over the course of 3-4 days. Your child may feel cranky or itchy during the rash stage of roseola.

Other symptoms are fussiness, loss of appetite and sleeping less.”

You can say hers are typical textbook symptoms, coz the doc literally opened her drawer, took out a medical textbook, and flipped open the page on roseola, with pictures and exact descriptions of the virus.

Aiyah, why you never sayyy, ah girl.

So anyway, mystery solved. Her oma can rest well now. Sheesh.

On another note, think we’ll make raffles medical at tampines 1 our regular paedi now. So convenient and we paid subsequent consultation fee although it was our first time, coz she was born at RMH.

after a morning of inexplicable crying and fussiness, we brought her out for a few visits, and she was distracted enough to momentarily forget why she’d been so irritable.

then something set her off, and she went cantankerous again. PMS much?? :D

with the passing of two men in the paternal family and the eldest matriarch away from SG to be with her children in KL for the very first time in all our raya history, we decided to make mum’s house the meeting point this year, seeing that she’s technically the next ‘eldest’ in status. so it was a small gathering, a new tradition, with two widows’ potluck of rendang, sambal goreng, ayam masak merah, lodeh, ketupat, lontong – the works.

P1050942 Spread @ mum's

i must say, i’m really not into the whole family politicking that’s been silently happening and am subtly ignoring on the paternal side, but am more than happy to have ‘fewer’ houses to go to in any case. not that i don’t appreciate the whole “visiting the elders as a form of respect” thing, of course, but well, respect is a slippery slope in some cases, and well, we all know where our loyalties stand. plus, with small kids in tow, their convenience and comfort take precedence, so… yeah.

little A was not in her best of moods due to a temperature that’s been playing peek-a-boo with her over the past two days. and the older A, well, he goes slightly berserk when in the company of his many uncles and small cousins. so the only sunshine we had was the one in the sky and making us swelter in our kebayas. smiles were ill-gotten with this one… LOL!

Auni & mummy
not so happy – “what’s there to smile about, grumble grumble…”

Auni crying
even more unhappy – “WHY YOU MAKIN’ ME WEAR THESE SHOEEES, WHYYYY?!?!”

lollipop made her smile, finally
slightly happy – “oouh, lollipop. heh heh.”

Auni & mummy
not happy again – “GREAT, I’M STANDING NEXT TO A WALKING CURTAIN.”

Adam & Aniq with their Oma Is and Lina's purple family
purple is in or whaaaat. heh.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST!

izadnhana2009

ok, so admittedly little A was tricked into a grimace that passed off as a smile so yeay, the izadnhana family portrait 2009: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

selamat hari raya aidilfitri, maaf zahir dan batin to one and all. :)

(Ok, last post about G-Force, promise…!)

So, everybody loves a hero, right? Well, duh! Aniq especially knows a superhero when he sees one!

Darwin is the guinea pig leader of the G force unit in the movie. With his badass hi-tech gadgetry and weapons which include his IR goggles that helps him navigate in the dark using heat signatures and his standard issue electro whip together with the plasma gun that can shoot long range targets, no wonder Aniq was literally “gunning” for Darwin in the show.

Aniq loves his toys and so does Darwin. With his arsenal of deadly “toys”, Darwin always has something up his sleeve. Not just that, Darwin also kept the audience on their toes with his agility and strength in doing his stunts which Aniq tends to re-enact too enthusiastically at home, much to the disapproval of his mother! :p

Anyway, Darwin’s never-say-die attitude and the purveyor of everything good is indeed a role model for all the kids out there.

When i grow up, i want to be just like Darwin, i want to fight bad people! Check out the movie site here.

know why i’m miffed at my nose-picking brother?

Aniq & Auni

while i get to wear wimpy tees with girly things like cupcakes…

Auni

he gets to wear COOL stuff with things like spiders. i love spiders! i mean, i pretend i’m scared of it by patting my chest when mummy sings that ‘little miss muffet’ song or the ‘itsy bitsy spider’. i’m not really scared, of course. just that she gets a kick out of seeing me do things like that, so i do it for her sake. i’ve never even seen a real spider. bet i could crush it like a cockroach. which i’ve never really seen either, actuallly… but that’s besides the point.

Aniq

the point is, *i* should be the one wearing a spiderman-inspired outfit. coz if anything, climbing is like my FAVOURITE thing, like EVUH. can’t you tell? i could climb everything and anything! if only those pesky adults won’t stop me all the time. party-poopers.

So we caught G-Force the movie over the weekend, and what can I say – the boy loved it!

And being the impressionable boy that he is, Flo Rida’s Jump is now “my song” to him.

After watching the movie, he is yearning for his own G-Force collectibles. The boy is ready to show some of his G-Move in “The G-Move contest” to earn his own ‘toys’. The contest? You have to create and upload your video doing the G-Move (click here to watch how to do the G-Move by Hurley) to this Facebook page .

Now, check out his G-move. Wade Robson, eat your heart out… :p (pardon his pyjamas, it’s supposed to be bedtime, you know.)

The movie’s 3D special effects were fantastic. It figures, coming from a director who’s a visual-effects veteran with a list of SFX blockbuster hits under his belt such as The Rock and Armageddon. Rodents and debris flying out of the screen – ok not exactly terrifying like the above two movies, but still – neat!

The story is basically about three specially-trained guinea pigs on a mission to save the world, but the team gets thwarted by an FBI agent who totally underestimates the trio, so they end up in a pet shop and… well, let’s not spoil it for you now, shall we?

In all, Aniq and I give it 4 popcorns (or, as he would say it, “pop-tohn”!) out of 5. There are enough thrills and spills in the movie to entertain both the young and the young-at-heart (like, ahem, yours truly).

And there’s even a corny (or, in Aniqspeak, “tohn-ny”) twist at the end, so look out for it. :p

Already open in cinemas and a great movie to watch for the school holidays!

Hehe.

Ok, trying out with a photo. (Pervpic @ toilet, where else. Notice hand hovering over crotch to hold pee in. Ignore extremely wrinkled dress. Damn you, silk or whatever material you are.)

Ok, let’s hope this works.

auni and grandpa waiting for iftar pink balloon meet clifford, the big red dog lepak trolley jalan-jalan di bazaar

pandan city mraz bros selling drinks pop pop gearbox soup pandan city medan selera ikan pari bbq

we traveled up johor bahru to check out the night scene on a sunday evening with my dad and brothers. since we half expected the woodland causeway to be jam pack, we decided to go by tuas instead. luckily, traffic was a breeze there. wanted to go jusco but tesco attracted us with kenny rogers. the place was so-so, perhaps more suitable to the local clientele. got my ayamas and ramly fix in tesco before heading to the main destination.

pandan city is located just south of jusco, the place is a hive of activity, kindda like the geylang bazaar but at least 4 times bigger. tried out the famed “gearbox tulang soup” which aniq loved and got a nice ramly burger special with cheese for myself. the rest bought sate, ikan pari bbq and roti john. didn’t really explore much as monday is a working day. it was rather chop chop but aniq and auni seems to enjoy the journey especially little auni who finally bonded well with her grandpa :)

Our soon-to-be 4-year-old has a near-obsession with action figures. Which ‘normal’ boy doesn’t, right? Erm, right.

Oh, he loves super furry animals too.

Anyway, what would typically happen whenever he catches sight of characters toting fancy gadgets and – *gasp* – guns on screen, coupled with highly-charged hi-jinks and exciting explosives? He’d freeze in his tracks and produce an awe-induced “WAAHH!”. Naturally.

Yes, the testosterone runs deep with this one.

And since the school holiday is imminent, another family trip to the movies would definitely be in the cards. IF he behaves, that is. :p

Nuffnang has given us a whiff of a new animation comedy adventure in 3D coming out soon, G-FORCE. G for Guinea pigs, that is, along with Gizmos and Gadgets. Trained secret agents, furry little James Bonds! Haha! (BTW, you can participate in the G-Force “The G-Move” contest to win exclusive movie premiums to the movie.)

Showed the little fella the movie trailer on YouTube and his eyes popped wide open (oops, and this was just before his bedtime, my bad). And yes, that “WAAHH!!”. Ever the obliging daddy that I am, I replayed the trailer over and over again as demanded.

Check out the movie site!

The voices cast would be interesting to look out for, among which are Nicholas Cage, Penelope Cruz, Steve Buscemi AND Jon Favreau (who directed and acted in mine and Aniq’s all-time favourite action movie, Ironman).

And in 3D! He’ll definitely get a kick out of watching the characters come to life.

So, Aniq, behave, ok!
