so i did finally find time to break out the new food processor, a hand-held one, which is so, erm, nice to hold, long and firm, with strong vibrations and all… err…
anyway, this baby food-making thing is kinda deja vu for me (the entry of oni’s demo still resides at aniq’s old blog), and like the last time, i’m holding out on the heinz/gerber-made purees because… well, i did it for the firstborn, so mommy has to be fair, right? and i still have a week left before relinquishing my sahm status, so i might as well do the homemade stuff like a good supermommy would (yeeaaah right, lol!). and, hmm, two babies on and i’m still a little suspicious of shelf-food (and beverage) for babies. (hey, you’ll never know what’s been melamine-infused! :p)
(i know others create lovely entries on cooking, especially exotic food, but this is as far as hana goes with so-called ‘culinary adventures’, bah.
oh, and let me tell you, i did this in mum’s kitchen, and she took one look at me and went, “you hold the baby, let me do that instead” which made me fume and start nagging at how she ALWAYS did that, from when i was young till now that i’m an adult, and this was why i never learnt anything in the kitchen, bla bla bla, afterwhich she smirked, and continued holding the baby while i daintily scooped out the contents of my lovingly-made mush.)
this time round, inspired by Fiona Miles’ ‘Fresh Milk: The Secret Life of Breasts’ (great read! it even has a breastmilk ice-cream recipe, if anyone’s interested… and stories on lactation p*rn*, ho ho), i did something which i unfortunately didn’t try the last time. and my favourite part of the whole process too, actually!
i bent over, and squirted milk into the bowl, straight from the source. mix, squirt, mix, squirt… until i got the consistency just right.
not gross, very nutritious, confirm no melamine. ha ha.
so far, so good. she’s learnt to open her mouth wider instead of ‘sipping’ from the spoon. but mess is mess, for sure!

kak, i’m jelez…can??? sigh…i tell you it’s quite depressing looking after a preemie cos she’s not like normal babies, as ppl know. she’s still not turning on her tummy..i have to do it for her *tsk* her neck control still not too good. doesn’t like spoon-feeding. tried many times. all the mommies with babies around fateha’s age are doing progressively well. or even good! i know her setbacks and quite normal for a preemie…but….
baaaaaahhh!!!! *sob…sob*
alahh… i’m sure you’d know, as a teacher, that every child is different. that includes their growth and development… she’ll catch up soon enough, in her own time, and will probably make up for the setbacks in some other ways, so don’t worry k! :)
cheydebah! i’m sure auni will appreciate it your hardwork. hehe. when she’s a bit older, try mixing japanese sweet potato with a little beef sauteed in onions (then blended to a fine mush, of course). sedap! I also like the taste, yum yum.
i miss doing my foodcubes, sigh.
appreciate *your hardwork. BAH.
rajin eh mummy! hehehe… i remember the puree entry in aniq’s old blog! (and i do read it from time to time too hahah)

i envy moms with babies who eat well! Till now si adam, half a bowl of porridge pun dia tak boleh habiskan. Purees? Jangan harap lah, tsk tsk. such a poor eater, my boy :(
alah nani, isn’t that better than overeating and oversized? besides, bf-ed babies tend to be leaner soo… :)
tea! tankiuk so very much for thinking of us, it was a pleasure lah! dapat kita beraya at the same time. too bad i didnt get to make hazim sengih sengih like the other time at my place! takpe takpe, 2nd bday nanti takmo cranky k… :)

liz, tak rajin lah, kitchen pon pinjam, pasal malas nak clean up kitchen sendiri. :p (mum immediately whisked away the stuff to be washed as soon as i’d finished, hurhur.)
wahsey, rin, lu ingat gua gourmet chef kah, lol! i think at that stage, i’d have given up on the joystick, err, blender liao. :S

Yeah, julia, just pop a few cubes out, reheat, add some milk or water, and serve. Less wastage than opening a whole bottle of gerber/heinz, since they eat so little.
And actually, i think boys yang lagi cepat develop dari girls leh. Aniq dulu 6mths dah merangkak macam anak buaya lol!
Hi beah… Erm, how to help, eh? If i have magic wand, i would use it on myself too ha ha.
i bought my ice cube trays from kedai apek kat rivervale plaza! Cheap cheap! Actually doing baby food is exciting- so many concoctions! Kasi apa sumer dia telan. Tapi dah besar ni boleh cerewet plak. Hard to please la these toddlers. Nak fish ball aje!!
