i guess if you cover their heads, they *do* pass off as siblings.
well, they ARE, of course!

aniq and auni at about one month old
one of the things he bugs us with is to let him carry the baby. “nak ato! nak ato!” (“ato” = “dokong”… yeah i know they don’t sound anything alike, lol!)
of course, it takes all of five seconds for his arms to get tired and he goes “dah!”. sheesh.
i realise that i have a tendency to attend to him first before the baby, if i’m alone with them. i don’t know why, but toddlers (ok, i also don’t think he’s a toddler anymore – have you SEEN him walk? it sure ain’t toddling! but what do you call a 2.5 year old??) seem to have a more persuasive way to get you to attend to their needs first.
maybe it’s that guilt thing again, having to ‘divide’ attention… and allowing them to seek your attention.
although, i must say, he shows no typical signs of sibling jealousy at all, and has been pretty helpful if asked to do things for the baby. like throwing diapers, getting tissue, finding rattles, rocking the baby, offering toys, food, milk, you name it.
but for all his sweet moments, there are definitely exasperating ones, which i think is attributed to that universal phase – the dreaded ‘terrible twos’, however much i don’t subscribe to that label.
but don’t old people always say, “kecik-kecik nakal, dah besar baik”?
well, let’s bloody hope so, aye!
