so it turns out to be a good thing that our husbands are fans of this particular football club, because through my accompanying the spouse to scour various sports shops (as a dutiful wife would do), i’d made a mental note of the little jerseys and whatnots they had for the little bodies of the little footie fans.

aniq, after all, has a collection of football jerseys, despite the questionable fashion sense of wearing them when you’re not an actual football player. (yes, mommy finds them garish and poseurish, but heck, what does mommy know, right?)

and when there was a request to do a dpcake for a baby boy whose daddy’s a rabid fan (or so we gather) of this particular football club, wellll… shopping was a cinch. (and even the spouse was more than happy to help this time.) :D

Little Liver Cake

so yeah, this one’s strictly for the boys – big AND small. (we hear that the baby’s daddy is highly likely to keep the teddy for himself, heh.)

and yeah, the spouse was also vair tempted to buy the kit (coz it’s the latest season’s or whatever) for aniq too, but i had to keep him in check by emphasising the figure on the price tag (as a dutiful wife would do).

aiyah, beli mahal mahal, bukannya bawak dia pergi main bola selalu! :p

trivia!: did you know…

the word “liver” in the name of the liver bird (which is the symbol of the city of liverpool, england) rhymes with “diver”, rather than with “river”?

well, now you know!

thanks hor, wikipedia!

they say i look like my daddy.

is it because we both have chunky, muscular arms? (you’ll need to work out more, ol’ man.)
is it our similarly ‘boncit’ tummies? (though daddy’s suspiciously ’rounder’.)
is it how my hair stands up like his? (hey i don’t need any gel on my tuft.)
is it the shape of our lips? (no wonder mummy keeps smooching me!)

is it the way we like to slouch on the sofa together, watching football on tv? (it’s the euro cup, you know.)

hangin' out with the ol' man

nevertheless, mummy insists i look more like her. (the deluded vainpot.)

maybe some day when i learn to wear makeup (and grow some hair), i’ll look more like you, okay mum?

:p

meanwhile, excuse me while i watch this highly-engaging match.

ps: you, Parents, i demand that you change the banner on this blog to include me! this is first-child favouritism! i’m outraged!

“hola, it’s me again!

Auni

no, please don’t call me botak jones. or botak jane for that matters.

that’s me at six weeks. i’m taking over this blog for a while coz i’ve recently discovered the joys of gurgling, so just pretend that the funny sounds coming out of me make sense to you, ok?

nothing much to report, except that the other day the Parents brought me to the doctor’s, where i was weighed (4.6kg), measured (55cm), and brutally poked in the thigh with a heyuuuge needle, but that was ok, i just turned red in the face and gave a loud yelp, then i forgot all about it.

what’s the deal with that, anyway, terrorising little babies like me with sharp objects?? i’m glad i never have to go through that again, phew.

… WHAT?? it’ll happen AGAIN?? till i’m HOW old??? holy mustard poo!

ok, ok, deep breaths…

as i was saying, the nice lady doctor said i’m growing ok. she did some funny things to me, sniffed my butt (ok, she didn’t, she just peeked at the BCG lump on my rump), talked about her niece (huh?), and something else about a pneumococcal vaccination.

… wait, does that involve another heyuuuuge needle too? erm.

right, where was i? (please apologise, we babies do have short-term memory. and short-term attention span… oooh look, lights! ahhh…)

ok, ok, focus, auni!

so i’ll be seeing the doctor again in two months time, which daddy’s fond of coz it means child mc for him. and which mummy’s fond of too coz it means she gets to jalan-jalan. (like as if she doesn’t jalan-jalan enough.)

and i shall stop here because i feel the snooze monster sneaking up on me, and my train of thought is in serious threat of constant derailment (darn those lights, they distract me so), and mummy needs the computer for non-blog matters.

like the internet-savvy new generation baby that i am, i shall round off with a resounding: TTYL and TTFN!”

(hmph, they really should change it to GAYL for “Gurgle At You Later”.)

“… or rather, while *i* was sleeping, a lotta things happened around me i was vaguely aware of.

i think i watched – or rather slept through – yet another movie in the cinema. sheesh. abang aniq said it was about a panda who looked like uncle bob. i bet he was just as funny too.

anyway, the few moments when i’m awake, i’m being subjected to being manhandled by my mimmy and diddy (is that what they call parents these days? i don’t know, that’s what abang aniq calls them, and he’s in my ears ALL the time.)

Auni says

mimmy, as you can see, is obsessed with tights. even though they’re NOT tight on me. sheesh.

her fashion guru is of course, kakak sharleez, but haiyah mimmy! you’ve got a lot to learn, ok. nevermind, i know i know, nothing much fits me now, and you’ve been dressing abang aniq up in boring boy clothes for two and a half years, so of course, you’ll need a crash course in dressing girls up.

what? pink? bring it on! wuaahaha!

ps: sorry mimmy for pooing – THRICE – after your efforts. *poooot*”

you know… it’s one thing to copy ideas (go ahead! take them!), but another thing to copy copywriting.

yes, there’s the word ‘copy’ in copywriting, but that doesn’t mean you can lift one’s carefully-thought-out choice, structure, and arrangement of words, and pass it off as yours.

if there’s one thing we hate, is our efforts in writing being lazily swiped from under our noses.

and please, don’t tell us that the same copywriting can be found everywhere on the net, or that everyone in this country has come up with the same common lines to market a particularly uncommon product, or that nothing is ‘original’ aaanyway. coz that’s just pushing coincidence waaay too far.

and even then, to plagiarise badly?

now that’s just… SimplyMelayu.

one month old and you’ve been to at least two tourist attractions: sentosa and the science centre. :p

ouhh look, freshly hatched chicks from their shells, just like you.

Egg shell & Peanut Shell

of course, this time round the purpose was to bring your abang to see the dinosaurs. which he wasn’t very impressed with, and i must say, i was kinda disappointed too. maybe we should’ve brought him to see that big purple dinosaur instead? no?

well, at least he got to date a big fan of the big purple dinosaur…!

two lions
forget that purple pansy, sharleez – this is how a REAL dinosaur sounds like!

so auni, are you ready for the zoo next? one kakak working there has reminded us of those free tickets, you know! ;)

i guess if you cover their heads, they *do* pass off as siblings.

well, they ARE, of course!

auni loves to bathe!
aniq and auni at about one month old

aniqauni1 aniqauni4

one of the things he bugs us with is to let him carry the baby. “nak ato! nak ato!” (“ato” = “dokong”… yeah i know they don’t sound anything alike, lol!)

of course, it takes all of five seconds for his arms to get tired and he goes “dah!”. sheesh.

aniqauni3

i realise that i have a tendency to attend to him first before the baby, if i’m alone with them. i don’t know why, but toddlers (ok, i also don’t think he’s a toddler anymore – have you SEEN him walk? it sure ain’t toddling! but what do you call a 2.5 year old??) seem to have a more persuasive way to get you to attend to their needs first.

maybe it’s that guilt thing again, having to ‘divide’ attention… and allowing them to seek your attention.

although, i must say, he shows no typical signs of sibling jealousy at all, and has been pretty helpful if asked to do things for the baby. like throwing diapers, getting tissue, finding rattles, rocking the baby, offering toys, food, milk, you name it.

but for all his sweet moments, there are definitely exasperating ones, which i think is attributed to that universal phase – the dreaded ‘terrible twos’, however much i don’t subscribe to that label.

but don’t old people always say, “kecik-kecik nakal, dah besar baik”?

well, let’s bloody hope so, aye! :D

we did say we were camera shy, didn’t we??

but this time, the deal was simply to ‘borrow’ Whims & Fancies’ diaper cakes as part of a scene for an upcoming programme on suria, and it took one call from *someone* with VERY persuasive powers (how could i refuse when she repeatedly went, “do lah! do lah!”) to agree to it.

not that we ‘jual mahal’, ok – we do for free leh!

and since they told us it was for an episode with a baby shower scene, i even offered the stuff i got for my very recent one. (yes, THAT one. with the same diaper cake that is still very much intact and has been sitting on my coffeetable for over two months now, lol!)

Chef S.O.S
macam pernah nampak benda tu semua, ey?

the main feature of the programme was not our inedible confections, but REAL ones. prepared by the winner of a recent cooking competition on tv… ahh, you probably know who he is by now. right? ;)

Chef at work
chef khaled at work

we were on location in one of the villas at siloso beach resort (i can’t say this enough – $1.5k a night!), and i tried very hard to get out of the way of all those big cameras and mess of wires.

and i got to drool at the food (ok, i DID get to taste them too – at the end!)…

food prepared by Chef Khaled Chef S.O.S

Chef S.O.S Chef S.O.S

erm, i’m not a food person so don’t ask me what they are, lol! all i know is that one of them was chempedak (!!) creme brulee, and the mexican salsa dip thingy was REALLLY good. and that last one there, that was ‘baked’ by W&F lah. hehe.

the programme will debut on 2 june (tomorrow!), but this was for the last episode (#7) so… watch out for it! :D
