intrigued, i finally searched the net for that much-talked-about chinese baby gender prediction chart.
and ended up REALLY confused, coz there seemed to be different charts everywhere!
story has it that the ancient chinese used a so-called chart, drawn up by a scientist, to predict the gender of an unborn child. i guess it must have been a great hit back then, seeing how they all badly want boys to continue their lineage.
well, 700 years later, it somehow got ‘leaked’ out from the tomb where it was buried in beijing, and landed on the world wide web.
ok, you know we’re not supposed to believe in such predictions (and these charts sure look dodgy to me, heh), so let’s take this with a generous pinch of salt, shall we?
so what you’re supposed to do is to check the month of the baby’s conception (see top row) against the age of the mother at the time of conception (see left column).
let’s say aniq was conceived in march when i was technically 27 years old… what do you get?
and let’s say this new baby was conceived in july when i was technically 29 years old… what do you get?

come come, it’s all in the name of fun. with gender, it’s always 50-50, either one or the other, like what the doctors say. (unless of course, you’re having twins, etc – now THAT would have been tricky on the ancient chinese!)

(well, i couldn’t possibly publish them without eventually revealing the gender of the baby, so enjoy ‘discovering’ it through the entries, ha ha.)

One of the earliest written records of a urine based pregnancy test can be found in an ancient Egyptian document. A papyrus described a test in which a woman who might be pregnant could urinate on wheat and barley seeds over the course of several days: If the barley grows, it means a male child. If the wheat grows, it means a female child. If both do not grow, she will not bear at all.
Testing of this theory in 1963 found that 70 percent of the time, the urine of pregnant women did promote growth, while the urine of non pregnant women and men did not.

history has it, this chart was a record of the baby boys and girls born in china in ancient times. i think tis can be look at as a stats record lor..since population of china is/was huge the sample size is big which makes it possibly accurate..statistically. there is a probability that may get it right but there is also a probability that you wont..
like kalau if we look at family having more girls than guys or other way round.to predict hahah except that we cant really use our family as example as sample size is too small unless we record the no of baby boys and girls born through many generations…so predicting gender from family line is not accurate.
ok, dah maths teacher dah abis cakap pasal stats n probability.
yah is, i realise it’s based on stats, but never thought that it’s coz of china’s large population, that makes sense! thank u for the perspective, teacher… :D
it’s mind-boggling how they managed to chart it eh?
but some of the charts on the net follow the mother’s lunar age, so it’s a bit confusing.

kak hana, i’ve tried this so-called chinese prediction chart.
well, it wasnt accurate for me. it predicted a ‘girl’ but my baby’s a boy!
well, i think thats why they call it PREDICTIONS. =))
so are gonna have any baby shower? if so, i shall get u a pot of of barley and wheat plant and make
u pee on them on the day of the baby shower. :p
back to the chart, it seems accurate for me at the point of time i was conceiving nks. maybe it was a total coincidence lah.
heh, now THAT would be a real “shower” eh! :p

as for me based on the prediction, it’s not so tru but well this is juz a chart, no confirmation stamp kan… juz for the fun of guessing alrite…. :)

like ppl says when u’re likely to hv a girl, u’ll get pimples or acnes. ‘kurang seri’ lah coz the baby girl taking the seri from the mum. hehe
but like i said i had a boy, the acnes on my forehead was horrendous! got in on my 1st tri.
am still recovering from it 5 months later… =X
so maybe im a living specimen that u shouldnt take all those “org tua ckp…” very seriously.

anyway, i looked very burok with my first son – hidong kembang and merah sumer jadik. then with the girl, ok – better a bit (although i tak vain! haha). with the third one, i looked very much like i was carrying my girl. tapi keluar boy – which was a big surprise considering dah boleh predict from ‘experience’ lah, kata. so the burok/seri symptom bo pakey for me.
hahahahaha den..kalau nak dapat twins…err…must conceive which mth??? ahhaahahha

Nt true leh.. based on experience (once again my sis not mine) her 1st pregnancy she dun look berseri leh.. Her face was quite gelap then so bloated sampai kena pi doctor..! Then her skin mcm started to peel..

aznor, your sis’ first was a boy kan? i didnt have any skin trouble with aniq… but i’ve heard abt this dark patches on women’s face during pregnancies, never seen it tho. one of those things crazy hormones do i guess.
and TANKIUK horrr… i have to disqualify the seri in the morning part tho – NOBODY looks good when they just woke up, lol!

my cousin had very obvious dark patches at her neck while she was pregnant with her son.. tapi after giving birth it went off by itself! ajaib sungguh!
sib baik i no hep such skin discolouration for both preg! heehee..
Eh, my sis lah yng have skin trouble with the first baby boy.. bukan si Aznor tu.. Saper ahh si aznor tu.. Laki ker prempuan..? Mcm lelaki aje.. hehehee… Btw my skin was really BAD during the 1st pregnancy.. Sampai her neck all ada.. Then black line appeared on her neck tau.. mcm tak mandi & all the dirt accumulate gitu.. Padahal it’s just a black line.. So bad ah..

hahaha … the surprise is priceless ah. for my 3rd child especially, since i mati2 thought it was going to be a girl from the “symptoms”. when my husband said, “it’s a boy!”, terperanjat besar – sakit pun hilang! haha. luckily i refrained from getting the pretty little gown i was so tempted to buy just a few days before. guess that part is the downside – can’t buy gender-based items in advance. :p
