Nose bleeds, smells, colds and sinus. The lining of the nose has an increased blood supply during pregnancy and tends to be more sensitive. This can cause the nose to produce more mucous and make you more prone to nose bleeds. Some women find they tend to suffer more from sneezing, allergy and/or sinus problems during pregnancy and if they get a common cold or the flu, this can take a little longer to recover from. Pregnant women also generally have a heightened sense of smell, making them less tolerable of certain odours.

well, THAT figures!!
the morning sinus has been close to intolerable, hitting me at just around 5+am, and i’d scramble out of bed, nose clogged and dripping, to find the antihistamine that the polyclinic doctor prescribed recently. i don’t think it’s doing its job, coz it only makes me a little drowsy and maybe lessen the mucous, but the whole day i’d still have difficulty breathing through my nose and there’s this constant metallic/bloody taste/smell that seems to be coming from my inner nasal passage.
the weird things you obsess about with your body when you’re pregnant. :S

maybe just to note a few differences between the two pregs.
- now, am not too keen on fast food, even fries, as previously, when i could devour it everyday. preferred choice of food is bland, soupy stuff with lots and lots of veges. especially my mum’s bayam bening = comfort food. (for now!)
- love fish. not crazy about beef. chicken is ok occasionally.
- have a need to follow a meal with something sweet, and yes, i’m talking about sweets, literally. fox candies are good.
- not too crazy about milk or soya bean at this stage as previously, when i could have glasses of it everyday like it’s happy hour. that thick sourish coating on the tongue after drinking milk (even milo or teh susu) is so unbearable, i resort to scraping my tongue with my thumbnail. in secret, of course. i’m sure it’ll get better in the later stages. it’d better! i want a strong-boned child, dammit!
- not too crazy about popping those folic and calcium tablets either, though the different brands of tablets DO taste slightly better now.
- sleep. a LOT. vair vair sleepy. like, all the time.
- etc.
- oh, and am lazier to religiously update on pregnancy than before. bah.
