Tampines, Singapore – Blog celebrity Aniq Izhan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence late Wednesday after “driving erratically”, police said.
He was pulled over along Tampines Ave 2 about 8:30 p.m.
“He exhibited the symptoms of intoxication,” Tampines Neighbourhood Police spokesman Ai Ma Bok said, reading from a written statement.
Izadnhana, Aniq’s publicist, said he was not intoxicated. They said he had “had one drink” and hadn’t eaten all day, and the field sobriety test showed “the very absolute lowest reading you can possibly get to warrant being taken in.”
They added that he had gone without a nap for a long period that day, hard at work on his new music album.
“Of course these matters are never to be taken lightly,” said Izadnhana, who noted that it is “unfortunate he was behind the wheel of a car even with one drink.”
“It’s his first offense and hopefully it will never happen again.”
If convicted, he could receive a six-month cot sentence and be ordered to pay a $10 fine, equivalent to five mobile kiddy car rides. As a first-time offender, however, Aniq’s penalty is more likely to be a fine, probation and L-plate t-shirt suspension, along with court-ordered community service, ie. 40 hours of sweeping his parents’ house, and kiddy car ride rehabilitation.
